According to the ABS, the June 2012 seasonally adjusted estimate for new motor vehicle sales (91 375) decreased by 0.6 per cent when compared with May 2012. When comparing seasonally adjusted estimates for June 2012 with May
2012, sales of Passenger vehicles decreased by 0.7per cent, while Sports
utility vehicles increased by 0.6 per cent. Over the same period Other vehicles
decreased by 1.9 per cent.
While the June figures saw a slight fall in seasonally adjusted terms, the longer run picture is one of growth - especially in the NT and WA - and especially for SUVs.
